Real Madrid winger set to miss El Clasico with a hamstring injury

Real Madrid returned to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League in spectacular fashion last night. After their loss to Lille Metropole in the second League Phase match, the Merengues were once again looking likely to fall to another defeat as they went into the half-time break with a 2-0 disadvantage.

However, Los Blancos once again showed their characteristic determination to fight back against the odds, as they scored five goals in the second half, with Vinicius Junior scoring a hat-trick, and Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vazquez also getting their names on the scoresheet.

One of the innovations in Carlo Ancelotti’s lineup last night was the return of Rodrygo Goes, who is no longer an automatic starter, but provided a lot of dynamism with his inclusion in the lineup. The Real Madrid star was able to get an assist to his name on the night.

However, just after giving the pass that led to Merengues’ third goal from Lucas Vazquez, Rodrgyo started hobbling and stepped off the pitch. He was subbed off immediately after the goal, as Aurelien Tchouameni replaced him on the pitch.

The forward underwent tests today, and MARCA reports that he is suffering from an injury to the hamstring of the right leg. As a result, he is ruled out for the upcoming El Clasico, but a more detailed assessment of his situation will be obtained only tomorrow as bleeding kept the medical facilities from undertaking an MRI on the player.

Meanwhile, the player himself seemed to be in high spirits, as he took to social media right after the game and shared the following message:

“Thank you all for the messages of love and support! Tomorrow I’ll undergo tests, and with faith, this injury won’t be a big deal. We remain strong, always with you by my side.”
