Victor Osimhen has everything that Arsenal lack, on paper at least.
The Nigeria international is a clinical finisher, is strong in the air and holds the ball up brilliantly well. He possesses very impressive pace as well.
Kai Havertz is a great player, but you wouldn’t describe him as a proper number nine would you? The German has worked wonders for the Gunners over the past 16 months or so, but Osimhen would provide Mikel Arteta with a different kind of threat all together.
Arsenal were linked with a move to sign the former Lille hitman back in the summer, but he left Napoli to join Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal in the end.
However, Arsenal are now lurking for his signature it seems, although the north London outfit will allegedly have to fight off competition from Manchester United.
Victor Osimhen claim emerges as Arsenal eye £58m deal
According to a report from Sabah (print edition December 6th, page 17), Arsenal are set to perform scouting missions on Victor Osimhen.
The Gunners are said to be weighing up a £58 million bid for the lethal 25-year-old striker.
Osimhen has 123 goals in 235 career games to his name. He is easily a one goal in every two games striker, and has incredible ability.
There aren’t many better orthodox centre-forwards out there right now.
Jose Mourinho once labelled Osimhen as ‘world-class’ (Roma’s official website) and on his day, he definitely can be unplayable.
However, it must be said that the fact he’s playing out in Turkey right now is slightly concerning. Why didn’t Antonio Conte want him at Napoli?
That’s all up for debate right now, but what we are certain of is that he knows where the back of the net is.
And Arsenal would surely be even more potent inside the final third if Arteta brings Victor Osimhen to the Emirates either in January or next summer.
