LIV Golf doesn’t have a TV partner for 2025, but that may change soon.
The league has been in high-level discussions with Fox Sports on a deal that would move LIV Golf’s competitions to the network, Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter reported Tuesday. As Golfweek reported in 2022, the sides have had talks before, ultimately falling through, but as the league enters its fourth year and tries to gain a major footing in the U.S. television market, a move to Fox would be a major breakthrough.
The report states a structure of a deal, including exactly what channel LIV Golf would broadcast on, remains unknown.
LIV Golf has aired on the CW Network the past two years, though the league has struggled to garner footing. Less than 100,000 people watched the 2024 individual championship, which saw Jon Rahm take home the title.
A deal with Fox Sports would be a big step up, putting LIV Golf on one of America’s major networks.
In another twist, Scott O’Neil, who reports say is expected to be named the new CEO and commissioner of LIV Golf, was in Las Vegas on Monday at The Showdown pro-am playing alongside Alan Gold, the head of sports media at CAA Evolution, the report said. Bazant, the EVP of business development and media for Fox Sports, was also in the pro-am group.
It has been a relatively quiet offseason for LIV Golf as far as roster transactions go, but a TV deal with a major network in the United States would be a stellar Christmas gift for the league that remains bullish in its quest to garner a larger footprint in the golf world.
