Report: Mike Vick is the new head coach at Norfolk State

Date:

Another day, another prominent NFL figure becomes a college head coach.

According to the Virginian-Pilot, Mike Vick will be the next head coach at Norfolk State University. The two sides agreed to terms on Tuesday morning.

Vick has no coaching experience.

The news comes amid a questionable report from ESPN.com that Vick was in talks to be hired as the head coach at Sacramento State, with the even more questionable notion that Sacramento State has a $50 million NIL treasure trove. While the school’s president said he expressed interest and was interviewed, there was no evidence that he was in talks to be hired.

Vick, the first overall pick in the 2001 draft, became the face of the NFL. A dogfighting scandal interrupted his career — and his liberty — in 2007. He returned in 2009, and eventually became the starting quarterback of the Eagles.
