Report: Roma pick Alessandro Antonello as next CEO

Roma seem to have decided on Lina Souloukou’s successor.

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan executive Alessandro Antonello is next in line to become Roma’s new CEO following Souloukou’s resignation a month ago.

The newspaper writes that after weeks of searching, the Friedkins appear to have set their sights on Antonello and he is now the leading candidate for the job.

Dan Friedkin got to know Antonello well at meetings of the ECA, the association of European clubs chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaifi,chariman of Paris Saint-Germain.

Their positions on sports politics are very similar. And this may have facilitated the intensification of contacts in view of a top role within Roma.

Furthermore, Antonello, who entered the world of sports a few years ago working for Puma, has lost power at Inter since the Oaktree fund entered the club, inserting its own delegates into the organizational chart.

The Friedkins had also indirectly inquired about Giovanni Carnevali, CEO of Sassuolo. The name of Claudio Fenucci, Bologna’s counterpart with a past at Roma in the Pallotta era, had come up. But in recent days Antonello has been identified as the right man to succeed Lina Souloukou, who left the scene a month ago after De Rossi’s dismissal.
