Rudi Garcia and Niko Kovac touted as Julien Stéphan replacements at Rennes

Julien Stéphan’s position at Stade Rennais is perilous. Since his renewal back in March, the club have won just five of their 19 matches. A list of names to replace Stéphan is now being drawn up by the hierarchy, as per a report from L’Équipe

Stéphan’s position was called into question before the start of the campaign. However, it was decided that he would remain in his post. Events since have not justified that decision and following Rennes’ 4-0 defeat to AJ Auxerre on Sunday, a shortlist of potential successors has now emerged.

Former Olympique de Marseille manager Igor Tudor has previously been linked with the role, however, it is thought that it may be difficult to convince the Croatian to take the reigns at Roazhon Park. Rudi Garcia, whose last stint was an ill-fated one at Napoli, former RC Strasbourg Alsace manager Patrick Vieira, and former AS Monaco manager Niko Kovac, all feature on Rennesshortlist, should they decide to move on from Stéphan.
