Salah’s contract saga casts doubt over Liverpool future

Mohamed Salah has raised doubts about his Liverpool future, revealing his disappointment over the club’s failure to offer him a new contract as his current deal edges closer to its expiry at the end of the season.

The Egyptian forward, who has delivered 12 goals and 10 assists in just 18 appearances this season, admitted he has not received any offers to extend his stay at Anfield.

Following Liverpool’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Southampton, where he reached the milestone of 100 away goals for the club, Salah suggested he is more likely to leave than stay.

“We’re almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers to stay at the club,” Salah said. “I’m probably more out than in. I’ve been here for many years, and there’s no club like this, but it’s not in my hands. It’s December, and I still don’t know anything about my future.”

Salah expressed frustration over the lack of progress, describing the situation as disappointing. “I love the fans, and the fans love me, but it’s not in my hands or theirs. Let’s wait and see,” he added.

Despite the uncertainty, Salah remains focused on his current goals, emphasising his ambition to win the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Supporters have made their feelings clear, unveiling banners at Anfield urging the club to secure Salah’s future. One notable display read, “He Fires A Bow. Now Give Mo His Dough,” referencing his signature goal celebration.

However, Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, have so far resisted pressure to table a new deal.

The situation is one of the few dark clouds over what has been a remarkable season under manager Arne Slot. Liverpool sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 10 wins in 12 matches, positioning themselves as strong title contenders.

Club insiders reportedly remain calm about Salah’s contract, citing positive discussions with his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa. The club recognises the complexities involved in extending the deal of their highest-paid player, who earns £350,000 per week.

With Salah’s contract nearing its end and the freedom to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs looming, Liverpool face growing pressure to secure the future of one of their greatest players.
