SCNext Top 25: The best boys’ high school basketball teams in 2024-25

Date:

For the third time in as many weeks, there’s a new No. 1 team in the nation.

IMG Academy (FL) moved up 8 spots to No. 1 after a 3-0 start to the 2024-25 high school basketball season that includes wins over fellow ranked opponents La Lumiere (64-54) and Arizona Compass Prep (64-62). IMG Academy has been led by 5-star Arkansas commit Darius Acuff (ESPN 100 No. 8) who had 25 points and 5 assists, including the game-winner, against Arizona Compass.

The No. 2 team in the country, Long Island Lutheran (NY), rolled to a 74-35 win in its season opener over St. Joe’s Collegiate. It is led by Syracuse commit Kiyan Anthony (ESPN 100 No. 36).

San Antonio Brennan (TX) moved into the top 5 amid a 10-0 start, behind excellent play from Houston commit Kingston Flemings (ESPN 100 No. 21). It has already defeated three ranked teams this season, the most of any team in the nation.

Mount Zion Prep (MD) comes in at No. 12 — the first time it has been nationally ranked by ESPN in program history — after going 8-0 with wins over Prolific Prep (CA) and Utah Prep (UT).
