The Section 9 girls tennis championships will be contested on Tuesday-Wednesday, October 22-23, at the Goshen Sports Complex.
As usual, the champions from last week’s Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association and Mid-Hudson Athletic League tournaments are placed on either sides of the draw. The singles and doubles draws each have 16 entries with two rounds to be played Tuesday, and the semifinals and finals on Wednesday.
The top entries from Middletown and Our Lady of Lourdes claimed the league titles last week. Middletown had singles champ Sasha Henesy and doubles winners Alexis Michael and Sandra Habwe. Lourdes had singles champ Tiffany Ren and doubles winners Elia Bonavoglia and Emma Beradis.
The other top singles seeds include Vivienne Bucci of Newburgh; Isabel Luzzi of Red Hook; Ally Davis of Washingtonville; Katie Park of Spackenkill; Tiffany Mabnikoth-Sooksavath of Pine Bush; and, Margo Ogden-Kosofsky of New Paltz.
