Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency on Tuesday in anticipation for the impact of what is now Hurricane Helene, which is still expected to make landfall in Florida late Thursday before moving toward Georgia.
Some Middle Georgia schools are bracing for the severe weather, and two have already announced closures for this week.
Here’s a list of school closure plans across Middle Georgia.
Bibb County

Cirrus Academy: School canceled Thursday and Friday. All after-school activities are canceled.

All Bibb County after-school athletic events on Thursday are canceled.
Monroe County

All Monroe County Schools will have early dismissal at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, and all after-school activities on Thursday have been canceled. Schools will be closed all day Friday.
Peach County

All Peach County Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday. All after-school activities are canceled.
Twiggs County

Twiggs Academy: Canceled classes Thursday.
