SLO County couple ‘woke to a bloody scene’ after mountain lion carried prey through yard

Date:

Cambria residents Chris and Sharon Eidler “woke to a bloody scene” in their backyard Wednesday morning.

A mountain lion had came through their yard with its bloodied prey in its mouth over night, the couple posted on neighborhood social media platform Nextdoor.

Their security cameras captured a picture of the mountain lion in the yard at 3:41 a.m. with what looked like a cat or a raccoon in its mouth, according to the post.

“Please keep your pets safe,” the Eidlers’ post said.

SLO County couple says 2 of their pet goats were killed this year. Was it a mountain lion?

This is the second mountain lion sighting in San Luis Obispo County this week.

At 1 p.m. on Tuesday, a mountain lion sighting was reported to the Paso Robles Police Department in the area of Traditions Loop and North River Road, according to a Facebook post by the police.

Paso Robles officers were circulating the area on Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone who sees a mountain lion in the Paso Robles area is encouraged to contact PRPD’s dispatch line at 805-237-6464.
