In a recent update from SPORT, it has been revealed that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is gaining significant attention within Barcelona’s offices. In fact, he is very much liked by the sporting management
Over the past few weeks, Partey’s name has frequently come up in discussions.
The Ghanaian midfielder, who has notable experience in La Liga from his five-year stint at Atlético de Madrid, as well as playing at the top level in European football with Arsenal, was reportedly on Deco’s radar during the last transfer window.
However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta refused to entertain any negotiations, and there were no talks.
No renewal in sight
It is to be noted that Partey has been a key figure for Arsenal this season. He has started every Premier League and Champions League match for the club, accumulating 741 minutes in just nine appearances.
Currently, Partey has not renewed his contract with Arsenal. If his situation remains unchanged, from January 1, he will be free to negotiate with any club, opening up potential possibilities for Barcelona to pursue the midfielder further.
Despite this, there is still a long way to go before the summer transfer window, and Barcelona’s current focus may be on other areas.
Las Masia provides
Meanwhile, La Masia has provided some impressive solutions in the midfield role, particularly with Marc Bernal’s impressive displays before his unfortunate knee injury.
Marc Casado has since stepped in and performed well, filling the gap left by Bernal’s absence.
For now, Barcelona seem to be prioritising other positions in their transfer plans. However, Deco and the sporting management will continue to keep an eye on Partey’s situation, monitoring any developments as they arise.
It remains to be seen whether the Ghanaian will eventually find himself in Barcelona’s ranks, but his name is certainly one to watch in the coming months.
