The latest South Carolina Gamecocks news from the last week, starting off with the football team’s blowout win over the rival Kentucky Wildcats

Shane Beamer’s South Carolina football team entered their SEC opener as an underdog by more than a touchdown but emerged a 31-6 winner in a lopsided performance.

The Gamecock defense was the story as they dominated the Wildcats with great performances at all three levels of Clayton White’s unit.

Following the game, ESPN made an announcement.

College GameDay will be in Columbia on Saturday as the South Carolina Gamecocks and LSU Tigers meet for a Noon ET kickoff.

Last week, EDGE players Dylan Stewart and Kyle Kennard earned a long list of accolades for their performances against Old Dominion.

The duo was selected as the SEC’s Co-Defensive Linemen of the Week, and they each earned at least one national player of the week award and another independent honor.

South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris took a visit to see a class of 2025 target.

Zymicah “Mikey” Wilkins, a North Carolina power forward, saw Coach Paris and received a nice bump in the recruiting rankings. ESPN moved Wilkins up all the way to #54 in the national prospect rankings.

The Ashlyn Watkins situation took several twists and turns.

Following her arrest on first-degree assault and battery and kidnapping charges, the reporting around Watkins has been all over the place.

Reports surfaced that the All-SEC forward had been reinstated, but then the University of South Carolina confirmed that Watkins remains suspended while the investigation is ongoing.

Another forward from Dawn Staley’s squad will join Team USA this week.

Senior power forward Sania Feagin will be part of the U23 Team USA 3×3 squad when they play in the World Cup in Mongolia starting this week.

A talented pitcher from Virginia announced a commitment to the South Carolina baseball program.

Aaron Dierks, a right-handed pitcher in the class of 2026, revealed his pledge on social media last week.

Some other recruiting news for Paul Mainieiri’s program came with players electing to leave the Gamecocks’ class.

Pitcher Emory Horton and outfielder/pitcher Cameron Austin both announced decommitments from USC. Austin revealed on social media that Coach Mainieri informed him that he was no longer on the team’s offer list as the offer was made by the previous South Carolina baseball coaching staff.
