The countdown is on! South Carolina’s Repeat Tour begins this week and these are all of the key dates for the season.
First Day of Practice
September 24 – South Carolina has been practicing all summer, so it’s a bit of an artificial milestone. Still, it means opening day is six weeks away. The players might be most excited that it means no more Final Four Friday workouts. The first practice is Monday afternoon, with media availability at approximately 3:30.
First Exhibition
October 15 – The first glimpse of the defending champs comes on the road. Memphis hosts the North Carolina men and South Carolina women in a double-header that serves as a fundraiser for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Avoid the rush and start complaining now that the game is on ESPN+.
SEC Basketball Tipoff ‘25
October 16 – Men’s basketball goes first, on the 15th, with women’s basketball going on Wednesday. Get ready for a full day of confusing questions and welcoming Vic Schaefer back to the conference.
Second Exhibition
October 28 – The first in-person glimpse for a lot of FAMs. Clayton State is the opponent, but like most exhibitions, the opponent isn’t really relevant.

Season Opener
November 4 – The Repeat Tour begins in earnest against Michigan in Las Vegas. It’s not quite last year’s opener – in terms of opponent or location – but A’ja Wilson should be a good tour guide in the gilded palace of sin.
Eastern Time Zone Opener
November 10 – For those without the frequent flyer miles to get to Vegas, the drive up to Charlotte – home city of WNBA icon Dawn Staley – will be the first in-person look at the Gamecocks. The opponent is pretty exciting too: a rematch of last year’s Final Four for NC State.
Home Opener
November 14 – Coppin State is the opponent for this Thursday night game. South Carolina will most likely raise the championship banner this night (or possibly the following Sunday against ECU). The quest to average 17K home attendance also begins here.
SEC Opener
January 2 – South Carolina opens conference play on the road at Missouri. The last time South Carolina opened conference play on the road at Missouri, the Tigers pulled off one of the most inexplicable upsets in program history. That loss on December 30, 2021, is South Carolina’s last regular season loss, and the only regular season loss in the last three seasons.
SEC Home Opener
January 9 – Texas A&M is the appetizer for the game against Texas later in the weekend. The Gamecocks can’t look past the Aggies toward the Longhorns.
SEC Tournament
March 5-9 – The tournament returns to Greenville for the final time under the current contract. The Gamecocks have won the last two tournaments, four of the last five, and eight of the last ten.
NCAA First Two Rounds
March 21-24 – South Carolina should host again.
NCAA Regionals
March 28-31 – The regional hosts are Birmingham, AL, and Spokane, WA.
NCAA Final Four
April 3-6 – The Final Four is at Amelie Arena in Tampa, ten years after South Carolina’s first Final Four, which was at Amelie Arena in Tampa.
