Sports streaming capitals of the US revealed 

  • Wisconsin ranks sixth for sport streaming capitals of the US
  • CBS Sports is the most popular service in the state 
  • Fubo was named the most popular sports streaming platform overall, with almost two million searches each month 

New data has revealed the sports streaming capitals of the US, with Wisconsin coming sixth. 

Sports betting experts at Thelines.com analyzed search volumes in every state for 20 sports streaming sites, exploring queries related to service costs, availability, and viewing options. and compared to state population before ranking the states from the highest number of monthly searches to the lowest. 

Top 10 sports streaming capitals of the US 

Average monthly searches per 100,000 residents 

Wisconsin is sixth, with an average of 3,392.07 searches per month per 100,000 residents. Wisconsin has the highest number of monthly searches for CBS Sports in the US, at 865.70 per 100,000 residents.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from Thelines.com said, of Sports Online Live Video Streaming Market, generating $9.31 billion in revenue. 

“With the market predicted to grow exponentially in the next few years, it’s interesting to see which states are contributing the most to this, and which platforms are dominating the field.  

This data highlights an increasing reliance on sports streaming as fans seek better access to multiple sports leagues, from NFL to NCAA games, without the limitations of regional cable packages. 

Colorado is crowned the sports streaming capital of the US, with an average of 3,848.89 searches per month per 100,000 residents. 

Home to several professional sports teams, including three-time Super Bowl winners the Denver Broncos, it’s unsurprising that the state tops the list.  

Fubo leads the way as Colorado’s most searched platform, with 778.15 searches per 100,000 residents each month, the second-highest figure in the country just behind Wisconsin. DIRECTV is the second most popular with 604.10 searches per month per 100,000 residents, while CBS Sports is third with 507.50 

Michigan is second, with an average of 3,813.87 searches per month per 100,000 residents.  

FanDuel Sports Network is the most popular platform in Michigan, with 753.76 searches per month per 100,000 residents. It was the only state to have this as its top search term. 

Third is Minnesota, averaging 3,549.80 searches per month per 100,000 residents.  

Fubo is the most popular streaming platform in the state, with 686.47 searches per month per 100,000 residents. CBS Sports and DIRECTV are next, with 593.52 and 543.29 searches per month per 100,000 residents, respectively. 

Ohio ranks fourth, with an average of 3,474.63 searches per month per 100,000 residents.  

CBS Sports claims the top spot as the most popular streaming network in Ohio, with 721.63 searches per month per 100,000 residents, the third highest volume in the US. Fubo is second, with 600.82 searches per month per 100,000 residents. 

In fifth is Nevada, with an average of 3,421.88 searches per month per 100,000 residents.  

Nevada’s most popular streaming service is CBS Sports, with 689.18 searches per month per 100,000 residents. Platforms like Sling TV and NFL Network also make it into the state’s top five. 

Seventh is Iowa, averaging 3,384.81 searches per month per 100,000 residents. CBS Sports and Fubo are the most popular platforms in Iowa, with 733.03 and 636.28 searches per month per 100,000 residents, respectively.

Maryland ranks eighth, with an average of 3,378.55 searches per month per 100,000 residents. With 579.31 searches per 100,000 residents, CBS Sports is the most popular platform in Maryland. Fubo and DIRECTV are in second and third place.

Ninth is Connecticut, with an average of 3,315.47 searches per month per 100,000 residents. CBS Sports is the most searched for service in the state, with 619.47 searches per 100,000 residents per month.  

Pennsylvania is tenth, averaging 3,295.99 searches per month per 100,000 residents. CBS Sports has the highest number of searches per month at 667.34 per 100,000 residents.

Monthly average search volume data was taken from Google Keyword Planner based on searches over the 12 months between December 2023 and November 2024 to reveal the rankings with average monthly search volumes.
