State golf champions highlight Week 8 top performers in Nashville area

The TSSAA girls soccer and volleyball postseason continues as teams try to position themselves for state playoff runs.

Here’s a look at the top performers in the Nashville area for Week 8.

Tuesday

Girls golf

Jackie Henderson, BGA: Henderson finished fifth overall in the Division II-A girls state golf championships. She shot a 146 for the tournament, firing a 75 in the first round and a 71 in the final round.

Anna Clanton, Cascade: Clanton finished fourth overall in the Class A state golf championships, carding a 76-77 for a 153 two-day total.

Tatyana Greene, Cascade: Greene finished third overall at state after firing a 149 (74-75) during the two-day event.

Isabella Johnson, PCA: Johnson, a Tennessee commitment, shot a 3-under, 137, for the tournament with rounds of 66 and 71 to capture the DII-A girls title.

Shelby Smith, Stewart County: Smith became school’s first individual golf state champion, birding the first playoff hole to defeat Westview’s Maddie Gray for the Class A state title.

Ella Busby, Summertown: Busby’s fifth-place finish in the Class A competition came by way of a 154 two-day score. She fired a 78 in the first round and a 76 in the final round.

Boys golf

Leo Froio, BGA: Froio finished third in the Division II-A individual state championships after shooting a 142 (71-71).

Brady Ray, BGA: Ray captured the Division II-A individual state golf runner-up after shooting a 3-under, 141.

Dane Gilbert, Hickman County: Gilbert finished tied for fourth in the Class A boys state golf championship. He shot a two-day total of 149 (75-74).

Ayden Smith, Stewart County: Smith made three birdies on the back nine as he finished at 2-over, 146, to finish tied as the Class A golf individual state runner-up.

Maddux Butler, Waverly: Butler finished tied for second overall in the Class A state golf championships after shooting a 146 (75-71).

Greyson Koch, White House-Heritage: Koch captured the Class A boys individual golf title after shooting a 73 in the final round to end with a two-day 145.

Girls soccer

Isabella Bates, Fairview: Bates finished with one assist in a 9-0 win over Creek Wood.

Katie Coble, Fairview: Coble had an assist.

Camryn Hunnell, Fairview: Hunnell had two goals.

Maleah Martinez, Fairview: Martinez scored five goals and an assist.

Sarah Morgan, Fairview: Morgan had two saves.

Izzy Reding, Fairview: Reding had four assists.

Jackie Reding, Fairview: Reding had two goals and two assists.

Eva Birkofer, PCA: Birkofer had a pair of goals as PCA knocked off Nashville Christian, 2-0 in the Division II-A Middle Region quarterfinals.

Mya Martin, Rossview: Martin had 10 saves in goal for the Lady Hawks beating Kirkwood, 3-1 in the District 13-AAA tournament semifinal.

Camryn Merryman, Stewarts Creek: Merryman had two assists in a 3-0 win over Cookeville in the District 7-AAA semifinals.

Volleyball

Anna Clay Shirley, MTCS: Shirley had 23 kills, 12 digs and an ace in a 3-1 win over Goodpasture in the region semifinals.

Jada Burns, MTCS: Burns finished with 15 kills, 17 digs and two blocks.

Monday

Girls soccer

Addison Dugger, Page: Dugger made the game-winning save against Franklin in a penalty shoot-out that gave Page a 0-0 (6-5) victory over Franklin in the District 10-AAA tournament championship.

Volleyball

Mallory Dobbs, BGA: Dobbs had 52 assists, two kills, four aces and 15 digs in a 3-1 win over DCA in the DII-A Middle Region play-in game.

Annie Harney, BGA: Harney finished with 31 digs.

Sophie Hoppe, BGA: Hoppe had eight kills.

Grey Malone, BGA: Malone had 14 kills and 11 digs.

Jo Snyder, BGA: Snyder had 24 kills, four aces and eight digs.

Emery Bland, Central Magnet: Bland had 12 kills and three blocks in a win over Battle Creek in the district tournament.

Jada Burns, MTCS: Burns had 15 kills and three aces in a 3-0 win over Ezell-Harding in the region tournament.

Bailee Culpepper, MTCS: Culpepper added 31 assists, 10 digs and two aces.

Anna Clay Shirley, MTCS: Shirley had 14 kills, an ace and a block.

Kayte-Madison Bjornstad, PCA: Bjornstad finished with six kills and 13 blocks in a 3-2 loss to Goodpasture in the region tournament.

Lillie Meinhart, PCA: Meinhart had 30 assists, five kills, four blocks, 10 digs and three aces.
