There have been plenty of stellar performances to start the Central Mass. boys’ basketball season, and Rich Garven picked some of the strongest starts for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Central Mass. Boys’ Basketball Player of the Week. These picks were selected from performances reported by area coaches to the Hometeam Scoreboard.

Kenny Arpin, Bartlett

The junior netted a game-high 28 points, 10 coming at the free-throw line, as the Indians posted a season-opening win over Quaboag.

Jake Attaway, Hudson

The senior connected on 11 of 15 free throws and scored 18 of his game-high 29 points in the second half as the Hawks topped Littleton to break into the win column.

Nick Barnes, St. John’s

The senior scored 24 points, including 11 on free throws, versus Algonquin and had 25 points and eight steals against North as the Pioneers posted a pair of wins.

Anthony Baum, Assabet Valley

The junior collected 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 steals in a win over Valley Tech and averaged 15 points as the Aztecs started 3-0.

Hunter Berry, Wachusett

The sophomore scored a career-high 28 points, including 12 in the third quarter, as the Mountaineers topped North to break into the win column.

Frido Carrillo, Leominster

The junior scored a game-high 21 points as the Blue Devils opened the season with a win over St. John’s for the fourth straight year.

Jayden Delaleu, Millbury

The sophomore tallied game-high totals of 21 points versus Auburn and 13 against Westborough in a pair of wins for the Woolies.

Jackson Dunton, Blackstone-Millville

The sophomore went for 26 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Bartlett and scored nine of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Chargers rallied to defeat Keefe Tech.

Parker Eckelman, Tahanto

The senior led all scorers with 18 points as the Stags defeated rival West Boylston and netted 15 of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter in a come-from-behind win over Bromfield.

Larry Lamar Jr., Grafton

The junior collected 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists versus St. Paul and averaged 21.3 points and 5.6 assists as the Gators got off to a 3-0 start.

Cody March, Maynard

The senior scored a game-high 25 points, including 15 in the second half, as the Tigers rallied to edge Hudson by a point in a season-opening win.

Luke Martin, Auburn

The sophomore led all scorers with 24 points versus Worcester Tech and 15 against Northbridge in a pair of wins for the Rockets.

James McKinney, Northbridge

The senior sandwiched a pair of double-doubles (13 points, 13 rebounds; 25, 15) around a 29-point effort as the Warriors started 3-0.

Jeancarlos Pimentel, Burncoat

The senior scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the third quarter as the Patriots rallied for a season-opening win over Leominster.

Zach Romich, Groton-Dunstable

The senior amassed 32 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists versus Westborough and netted a game-high 29 points against Marlborough during a 2-0 week for the Crusaders.

Ryan Roy, North Brookfield

The junior scored a game-high 23 points, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the regulation, as the Indians tipped South Lancaster Academy in overtime.

Jayden Rubio, David Prouty

The sophomore scored 11 of his career-high 32 points in the final eight minutes to propel the Panthers past Bartlett and to a 2-0 start.

Liam Smith, Littleton

The senior scored a game-high 21 points, including eight from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, as the Tigers defeated neighboring rival Groton-Dunstable.

Zach Swan, Gardner

The junior led the Wildcats in scoring in a pair of wins, netting 20 versus Narragansett and 15 against Bromfield.

The junior averaged 21.25 points as the Colonels started the season with wins over Marlborough, Fitchburg, Bay Path, and Wachusett.

Stephen Wagereka, Abby Kelley

The senior drained nine 3-pointers while on his way to scoring 31 points as the Bears pulled away to defeat Douglas to improve to 2-0.
