Sunday Night Football: Bijan Robinson’s two TDs have Falcons leading 17-7 at halftime

Date:

The Falcons dominated the first half, taking a 17-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Atlanta outgained Washington 199 to 116 in the first half. Michael Penix, making only his second start, completed 10 of 19 passes for 98 yards and an interception.

Bijan Robinson has 13 carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns. He had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs, capping drives of 70 and 72 yards.

Drake London has three catches for 44 yards.

The Falcons tacked on a 39-yard Riley Patterson field goal on the next-to-last play of the half, completing an eight-play 51-yard drive.

The Commanders scored on an Atlanta gift, but Washington has hurt itself with six penalties for 50 yards and a turnover deep in Atlanta territory. The Falcons took a field goal off the board on an offsides penalty on cornerback Mike Sainristil and turned it into a touchdown.

The Commanders also had a holding penalty on center Tyler Biadasz on first down at the Atlanta 12 . On the next play, Jayden Daniels never saw linebacker Kaden Elliss, who had dropped in coverage, and Elliss returned the pick 12 yards to the Atlanta 28.

Daniels is 11-of-14 for 92 yards with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Olamide Zaccheaus after Quan Martin’s pick of Penix on the opening drive. Daniels also has two carries for 24 yards.

Zaccheaus has six catches for 63 yards.
