Why does Travis Head find T20 cricket the toughest format?
While many would assume that the shortest format plays to the strengths of power hitters like Travis Head, the cricketer himself has a different view.
He admits that the constant pressure to score quickly makes T20 cricket the hardest. Batters are expected to maintain high strike rates and deliver from the very first ball, which, according to Head, adds an extra layer of difficulty.
“I find T20s the hardest because there’s pressure to score; there are expectations, every time you go out, you have got to strike at 130, 140, and 150,” said Head in an interview.
Head’s international T20 career has also been filled with remarkable innings, including recent vital knocks against England and Scotland.

Why does Head enjoy Test cricket the most?
In contrast, Travis Head finds Test cricket to be the most enjoyable format. While it’s known for being the ultimate test of a player’s technique, patience, and temperament, Head feels that Test cricket offers him the freedom to pace his innings the way he wants.
“I find Test cricket, somewhat, the easiest because if I am not feeling great, I can go as slow as I want and if I am feeling great, I can go as fast as I want. There are no barriers to what you can do. From the playing side of things, I enjoy Test cricket the most. It’s toughest in terms of technique, conditions and other things, but expectations are something that is always there in white-ball cricket,” he explained.

His standout performance in the World Test Championship final against India, where he won the Player of the Match award, highlighted his growing confidence in Test cricket. It’s a format where Head feels he can be at his best, blending caution with aggression as needed.
