A teenager was taken to a Topeka-area hospital Thursday after a two-vehicle crash near Lecompton.

About 5:40 p.m. Thursday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a 2009 Nissan Versa rear-ended a westbound 2016 Honda CR-V in the 300 block of North 1600 Road. The driver of the Honda had slowed for a vehicle in front of it that was making a right turn when it was struck as the Nissan’s driver failed to slow down.

The driver of the Nissan, a 16-year-old Topeka girl, was taken to the hospital. Medics evaluated the driver of the Honda, a 45-year-old Tecumseh woman, but she was not taken to the hospital. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and their injuries were not believed to be life threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.
