Texans now list RB Joe Mixon with an ankle injury after a limited practice

Date:

The Texans did not list running back Joe Mixon with an injury Tuesday. Instead, they reported him as a limited participant with a rest day.

The Texans added the ankle injury to the practice report Wednesday when Mixon had another limited practice.

Mixon was injured for the second time this season on a hip-drop tackle. Earlier this season, he missed three games with an ankle injury after an illegal tackle by Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards in Week 2.

On Sunday, Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks used the hip-drop tackle on Mixon, who briefly left the game with an ankle injury.

Mixon said Tuesday he expects to play Saturday.

The Texans had two other changes to their practice report Wednesday: Linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips (foot) returned to practice as a limited participant, and backup quarterback Davis Mills (illness) was back as a full participant after missing Tuesday.

Defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi (ankle), wide receiver John Metchie (shoulder), offensive guard Juice Scruggs (foot) and tight end Cade Stover (illness) remained non-participants.

Offensive guard Kenyon Green (shoulder) remained a full participant as he seeks to return from injured reserve.
