Texas women’s basketball nonconference schedule
With some of its youngest fans in attendance, the Texas women’s basketball team will attempt to remain undefeated.
No. 4 Texas is set to host Tarleton State at Moody Center at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Why such an early tip time? This is UT’s somewhat-annual “Forty Acres Field Trip” game, and thousands of local students have been invited to watch the Longhorns play.
Texas is 3-0 this season, and the Longhorns have beaten Southeast Missouri State, Lamar and DePaul by an average of 46.3 points. Tarleton State, which was picked to finish sixth in the Western Athletic Conference’s preseason poll, is 2-2.

End 1: Texas 31, Tarleton State 10
If Texas was looking for its first challenge of the season, Tarleton State is not going to provide it. Sophomore Madison Booker already has 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, and Rori Harmon and Shay Holle both scored eight points to nearly match Tarleton State’s scoring total.
About the only thing that went wrong for Texas during the quarter was a five-minute break was needed to restore power to the shot clock at the Texas basket.
1st (4:35): Texas 19, Tarleton State 3
Sophomore Madison Booker made four of her first five shots on Wednesday, and Texas is off to a good start at Moody Center. Texas has also gotten four points, two assists and two steals from senior Rori Harmon to complement Booker’s nine points.
Tarleton State forced an early 2-2 tie but has since committed nine turnovers.
Texas, Tarleton State don’t have much history
Texas and Tarleton State have met just once before. Back in the 1976 Texas AIAW Tournament, UT recorded an 86-60 win over the Texans. Tarleton State’s head coach is more familiar with the Longhorns, though. Bill Brock was a longtime assistant for Kim Mulkey at Baylor.
