With the fall open recruiting period underway, the UNC basketball program’s coaching staff has been very busy.
From coaches traveling across the country to visit players while holding weekend official visits, there’s plenty to accomplish on the recruiting trail. Although it’s been a busy week, the Tar Heels coaching staff is far from done, as they are showing how much they prioritize this one top-tier Class of 2025 star.
Jamie Shaw of On3 reported that the UNC basketball program’s full coaching staff was expected to take a trip to Highland High School in Virginia to see five-star forward Nate Ament. Tennessee was also expected to have coaches in on Monday to see Ament at his local high school.
The Tar Heels didn’t extend an offer to Ament until June 28, 2024, but they’ve quickly made him a priority on the recruiting trail. His size and potential are both very intriguing, as he could ideally fill the “stretch four” position that has become so vital in North Carolina’s offensive system.
The potential isn’t the only reason Ament is a five-star talent and a top-10-ranked player in his class. There is plenty to love about his overall game and his development over the last few months have made various coaches across the country take notice.
Since June 17, Ament has earned 10 scholarship offers from some notable programs, including North Carolina, Kentucky, UConn and others.
It will be a heavy battle to land a commitment from Ament, but the entire UNC basketball coaching staff is chipping in on this full-team effort to convince him to call Chapel Hill his future home.
