The Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) has announced the appointment of Kathy Haley as its new President and CEO, marking a historic moment as she becomes the first woman to lead the organization.
Haley officially assumed the role on November 26, 2024.
With an impressive background in leading large-scale infrastructure projects, Haley brings a wealth of experience to the MTCC.
Most recently, she served as Chief Customer Experience Officer for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ), where she spearheaded transformative improvements at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International, and Newark Liberty International Airports.
Prior to this, she was the inaugural president of Toronto’s Union Pearson (UP) Express, North America’s first dedicated airport-rail system.
“Kathy Haley’s exceptional track record in enhancing customer experiences, managing complex operations, and fostering business growth makes her the ideal leader for MTCC,” said Justin Mooney, Chair of the MTCC Board.
“Her global expertise and passion for elevating cities and regions will be pivotal as we continue to position Toronto as a premier global destination for meetings, conventions, and events.”
Expressing her excitement, Haley shared: “I am thrilled to return to my home city of Toronto and lead the MTCC into its next chapter.
The Centre is a vital asset to Toronto’s tourism and business ecosystem, and I look forward to working with the incredible team to enhance its global reputation, optimize its brand value, and deliver world-class experiences for visitors and event organizers alike.”
The MTCC also extended its gratitude to Ron Pellerine for his outstanding leadership as interim President and CEO over the past year.
Over its 40-year history, the Toronto has hosted more than 22,000 events, contributing over $9.2 billion in direct economic impact to the community.
In the last fiscal year alone, the Centre generated over $500 million in economic benefits for Toronto and Ontario.
With Haley at the helm, the MTCC is poised to further elevate its impact and global standing in the meetings and events industry.
