It is believed that former players Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and current batter Virat Kohli are the richest cricketers in the world. However, they are not the richest in the world or even in India.
Aryaman Birla, the son of billionaire Kumar Mangalam Birla, is the richest cricketer in the world. In 2023, he joined the Aditya Birla Group as a director at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL). He is also one of the board directors at Aditya Birla Management Corporation and Grasim Industries and is the future of the business empire. Before entering the business world, he played cricket and even hit a first-class hundred.
He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh against Odisha in November 2017. Aryaman shared a 72-run first-wicket partnership with Rajat Patidar and registered scores of 16 and 6.
A year later, he scored 103 runs off 189 balls to help MP draw a match against Bengal at the Eden Gardens.
Manoj Tiwary’s unbeaten double hundred took Bengal’s total to 510/9 declared. MP was bowled out for 335, and the hosts enforced the follow-on. This was when Birla showed his class.
He was signed by Rajasthan Royals at the auction in 2018. The player remained with them for two seasons but failed to play a game.
In December 2019, he took a sabbatical from cricket and never returned.
“I’ve felt trapped. I’ve pushed myself through all the distress so far, but now I feel the need to put my mental health and wellbeing above all else,” he wrote on Instagram. “
Birla’s net worth is estimated to be around INR 70,000 crore. Sachin’s net worth is 170 million USD, followed by former India captain MS Dhoni (111 million) and Kohli (92 million).
