Thomas Jefferson tennis continues to roll, now 7-0

Oct. 2—Thomas Jefferson girls’ tennis logged a 9-0 win over Aurora on Thursday last week and continued that level of success on Tuesday during a road trip to Lamar.

TUESDAY

The Cavaliers earned three convincing victories over the Tigers (13-15-1) on Tuesday evening in singles play. No. 2 Ester Yang, No. 3 Mason Solum and No. 4 Warda Morsy all won their matches 8-2.

Yang defeated Alyssa Mitchell, Solum beat Elliana Griffith, and Morsy took down Chloe Vaughan.

TJ’s Kyla Yang won No. 1 singles 8-4 over Lamar’s Brenna Morey. Madelyn Ro continued the winning ways in No. 5 singles in a 9-8 nailbiter against Isabel Osborne. Jenna Joseph picked up the 8-4 victory over Ryley Moore 8-4.

The Cavaliers also swept doubles play with three wins of 8-4, 8-3 and 8-2. Ro paired up with Lucy Lowery in No. 3 doubles to earn the 8-2 win over Kayelee Crane and Mackenzie Breshears of Lamar.

Thomas Jefferson moved to 7-0 with that win and it followed up a similar performance from Thursday at Aurora.

THURSDAY

Jeanna Jeyaraj started things off in that contest with an 8-3 victory over the Houn’ Dawgs’ Brianna Henson in No. 1 singles. Jeyaraj and Solum also earned an 8-3 win over Henson and Esmeralda Botello in No. 1 doubles play.

Those two victories only catapulted the rest of the TJ team to a 9-0 victory.

Kyla Yang beat Botello 8-1, Ester Yang beat Jaydn Venable 8-2, and Solum topped Veronica Shirley 8-1. Morsy and Ro added 8-0 and 8-1 wins, respectively.

TJ won the other two doubles matches 8-1 and 8-0.
