PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The disappearance and murder of Melissa Jubane, a nurse at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, has shocked the Portland metro area.
Here’s what we know so far about Jubane’s final days, the reported time of her disappearance, the community searches and more in the murder investigation.

Thirty-two-year-old Melissa Jubane married her longtime partner of 10 years, Bryan Llantero, on Aug. 24 on Oahu in Hawaii and had a ceremony with family and friends at Waimea Valley on Aug. 25, according to KOIN 6 News’ partner station KHON.
Jubane’s mother-in-law told KHON the couple met when Jubane was visiting Hawaii, and from there, the pair would travel back and forth to see one another.

The newlyweds flew back to the mainland on Aug. 31 but didn’t land until the early morning hours of Sept. 1, Jubane’s mother-in-law told KHON. They enjoyed Labor Day off before Llantero, an active duty member of the U.S. Navy, reported for work in Washington state and Jubane went to work on Tuesday, according to Jubane’s mother-in-law.

Authorities said around 10:18 a.m., Beaverton Police Department got a call for a welfare check request for Jubane after she had not clocked in for her morning shift at Providence St. Vincent.
Officers then went to Jubane’s apartment at 1050 SW 160th Ave. in Beaverton, where they searched her apartment. Beaverton police say efforts by investigators and her family to contact her on her cell phone “were unsuccessful” since it appeared her phone was turned off.
“Additionally, searches of Melissa’s bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her location,” Beaverton police said in a statement on Saturday.

“You hear about it and you see about it all around different areas around the world about missing people and when it’s someone that you really care about and you’re really close to, it just doesn’t feel real,” former co-worker Samantha Oregon told KOIN 6 News on Friday. “It’s like you don’t want it to be real.”
Sept. 7, 2024
At 3:02 a.m., Beaverton police released new information regarding the arrest of a suspect — Jubane’s neighbor, identified as 27-year-old Bryce Schubert — and that they had recovered Jubane’s remains.
Booking information from Washington County authorities shows Schubert was arrested on a second-degree murder charge. It’s unclear when he will face a judge or whether he has an attorney at this time.
