‘Top of the ladder…’: Cricket greats hail Jasprit Bumrah – Watch | Cricket News – Times of India

Date:

NEW DELHI: India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is one of the premier fast bowlers in international cricket, known for his lethal pace, pinpoint accuracy, and ability to bowl yorkers at will.
Having made his debut for the Indian national team in 2016, Bumrah quickly established himself as a key player across all formats.
Bumrah’s unique bowling action and exceptional ability to generate pace and bounce have made him one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket. He is particularly known for his death bowling, where he excels at containing runs and taking crucial wickets.
To say that Bumrah played a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph in June this year would be an understatement.
Now a clip of a video compilation is viral on the internet where former cricket greats are lauding the Indian pace spearhead.
The video, uploaded by a fan, starts with Bumrah himself saying, “For me, the main thing is team success. So if I am able to contribute towards the team’s success, I am very happy with that.”
The video then cuts to former West Indies great Chris Gayle saying, “Bumrah, you know very deceptive, reverse swing, good yorker, good pace, you know he got the X factor as well. I think he’s unique, he’s different from all fast bowlers.”
The video then cuts to a talk show in Pakistan where the host asks the great Wasim Akram to talk about ‘the unplayable Bumrah’.
Akram, the best left-arm seamer to play the game, says, “He (Bumrah) is the best in the world right now. Top of the ladder. The way he is performing, the control, the pace, the variations, he is just a complete bowler.”
Then comes former South Africa pace great Allan Donald who says during an interview, “If there’s a game in the balance, and you gotta go who’s gonna close the deal for you in narrow of margins, Bunrah is that man. There’s nobody better than him at the moment.”
The video then cuts to a podcast where former England captain Michael Vaughan says, “If I could pick one fast bowler for all conditions, all formats, Bumrah is number one on the same sheep, he is just incredible.”

Bumrah took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26, finishing with an astonishing economy of just 4.17 that was the best rate of those to bowl a minimum of 20 overs at the tournament and was named the Player of the Tournament in a campaign that saw India winning their first ICC trophy after 2013.
Bumrah is the first bowler in the history of the game to be ranked Number One in the ICC Rankings in all the three formats.
