Transfers: Daejeon Hana Citizen sign Joo Min-kyu from Ulsan HD

Daejeon Hana Citizen have signed Korean international striker Joo Min-kyu from Ulsan HD, the club announced on Sunday 5th January.

The Purples have bolstered their attacking options in the number nine position with Joo Min-kyu joining up with the likes of Vladislavs Gutkovskis and Cheon Seong-hoon.

Joo, 34, follows fellow former Horangi Lim Jong-eun who also made the switch from the Munsu to Purple Arena this month.

Speaking via the club’s official channels, Joo said: “The support here is so passionate that many fans even call it a ‘special football city.’ I could truly feel the sincerity of each and every fan, and their influence played a big role in my decision to join this team. I’ll work hard during winter training to get in great shape and deliver the performances and results everyone is expecting. I ask for your continued support.”

The signing signals a potential shift away from last season’s double false-nine setup which saw Masatoshi Ishida and Kim Jun-beom lead the attack.

Daejeon have been busy in the transfer window so far, adding the permanent signing of Victor Bobsin as well as Park Kyu-hyun from Dynamo Dresden, Ha Chang-rae on loan from Nagoya Grampus, Lim Jong-eun from Ulsan, and Jeong Jae-hee from Pohang,

Most of Daejeon’s squad are in Bangkok to begin pre-season training and Joo will soon flight out to meet up with his new teammates.
