UConn women’s basketball is back at work

Date:

STORRS, CT (WFSB) – The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team is back at work.

The team has been getting ready for what should be another fun season with championship aspirations.

The Huskies’ national title hopes came to an end last season in the Final Four, by 2 points at the hands of Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Despite having a lot of new players to develop and a bunch of injuries to battle through before the season even starts, Paige Bueckers said she is ready to lead the team on another deep tournament run.

“The sky’s the limit,” Bueckers said. “We have a lot of new people and a lot to learn, but starting from the beginning, we’re not making excuses for anything. We’re not here to make excuses.”

When it came to the injuries, head coach Geno Auriemma said Azzi Fudd, Aubrey Griffin, and Caroline Ducharme will not be ready to start the season.

The Huskies tip off the season against Fort Hayes State on Nov. 3.
