UNC basketball program visiting top 10 recruit

With the open period beginning last week, North Carolina wasted no time in contacting and visiting recruits that they have on their board for future classes. And on Monday, Hubert Davis and his staff are making a visit to a five-star recruit.

Per Jamie Shaw of On3, the Tar Heels’ staff will be in Virginia to pay a visit to five-star forward Nate Ament. Shaw noted that it will be Davis and the rest of UNC’s staff making the visit, which is important.

It appears as if the Tar Heels are putting on the full-court press for the talented Ament, hoping to score a commitment down the line.

The Warrenton, Virginia native has a total of 29 offers in his recruitment, drawing interest from North Carolina, Duke, UConn, Florida State, Kansas, Tennessee, NC State, Virginia and Texas among others. There are a lot of big programs in his recruitment, which is no surprise.

In addition to UNC, Shaw also notes that Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and Associate Head Coach Justin Gainey will also be in to see him on Monday.

The 6-foot-9, 185-pound Ament is ranked No. 7 nationally, the No. 4 power forward and No. 1 player in the state of Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Ament is setting up visits this fall to programs and is hoping to get to UNC during those visits.
