UnitedHealth exec killing ‘will reverberate’ across firms, advisor says

Date:

STORY: Thompson, 50, was shot around 6:45 a.m. ET outside the Hilton on Sixth Avenue, where the company’s annual investor conference was about to take place. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said the gunman remains at large and they are still investigating a motive.

“As an investment professional, we’re always looking for the communication and the messaging from these top professionals and Brian Thompson certainly exemplified that,” Miller said.

She added that with the number of reports this year about “senior executives choosing to leave industry these days,” the fatal attack on Thompson could leave “a lot of top executives rethinking, you know, are these positions worth it? And I won’t be surprised if we slowly see a continued exit from top positions across public companies.”
