Stuart Law, former Australia cricketer, has been reportedly sacked as head coach of the USA men’s cricket team following allegations of discrimination against Indian-origin players in the team. Stuart had been announced as USA head coach only in April this year, and coached the team at the 2024 T20 World Cup, which the USA
co-hosted along with West Indies.

As per a Cricbuzz report, the sacking of Stuart Law was confirmed after USA went down to Scotland by 10 wickets in a ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 (2023-27) match that was played in Dallas on Friday. USA skipper Monank Patel was one of the seven-eight players who alleged Law of “discrimination, mistrust and favouritism” towards some players, as per the report. Law has coached Bangladesh and West Indies in the past.

As per sources, the tensions between the players and Stuart Law increased during the T20 World Cup and the tour of Netherlands that followed. The players also wrote a letter, where they made an allegation of how Stuart’s “malicious outlook towards a few players has brought the team environment to its lowest ebb”.

The players also explained in the letter as to how “he infused an air of mistrust amongst team members through his lies and deceit”. The letter further said that “discriminatory tactics” were used against a section of players, which left them “alienated and completely demoralised”.

The letter mentioned that Law even tried to turn players against captain Monank by “lying through his teeth”. Harmeet Singh and Milind Kumar too faced problems with Law. While Harmeet and Law faced off on several occasions during the Netherlands tour, Milind claimed that Law had no time to “observe his batting” or even give him valuable inputs with regards to his performance.

USA made history in June this year, by making the Super Eight stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup in their debut appearance. One of their
biggest wins came against Pakistan via a Super Over. USA finished second in Group A with five points, but were eliminated in the Super Eight stage after having lost each of their three matches in Group 2.
