COLUMBIA, S.C. — University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball forward Ashlyn Watkins was arrested on Saturday according to the Richland County Public Index and arrest warrants obtained by WACH FOX News.
Court records list that the Columbia native is charged with Assault and Battery in the 1st degree and kidnapping.
It also shows that Watkins was awarded a $30,000 bond, under the condition that she has no contact with the victim and stays 1000 yards away from the victim’s home, work, school, and place of worship.
Watkins has permission to travel out of state for games and practice.
According to arrest warrants from the University of South Carolina Police Department, the incident happened at 650 Lincoln street in Columbia.
Warrants state that Watkins is accused of “forcefully grabbing” the victim’s face, “pulling her by her arms and pushing her”, the document reads.
The victim also told authorities that during the incident, Watkins picked her up against her will and carried her away.
The arrest warrant continues reading:
“The defendant also grabbed the victim’s head and forced her to walk down the hall thus controlling her movement while preventing her from leaving. The victim eventually was able to flee and pulled the fire alarm which caused Police and Fire to respond. The victim was treated by EMS for non life-threatening injuries. The defendant was given miranda and confessed. The incident was captured on video surveillance.”
