USMNT release five players to clubs ahead of Mexico friendly

Date:

USA boss Mauricio Pochettino has allowed five of his players to return to their clubs ahead of a friendly with Mexico on Wednesday.

The news was confirmed via an official press release in which it was explained that Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Zack Steffen and Marlon Fossey would undergo ‘continued evaluation and treatment’ with their respective teams.

All except Pulisic have minor injuries, while the Milan striker has been sent back to undergo ‘load management.’

“As we have said, we are always going to make decisions that are in the best interest of our players and respect the relationship we have with their clubs,” revealed Pochettino.

No further players will be called up in their place.
