VIDEO: I-77 reopens after 18-wheeler crashes into 8 vehicles, seriously injuring two near Mooresville: NCSHP

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Interstate 77 in Iredell County has reopened after a wreck involving a tractor-trailer shut down the northbound lanes on New Year’s Eve, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, on I-77 North near NC-150, north of Mooresville. The area is closed at Exit 36.

Troopers say an 18-wheeler struck about eight vehicles. Two people were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The interstate was closed for several hours, reopening sometime after 7 p.m. It is unclear if any charges are expected.
