Video – Mbappe’s retort to Espanyol goalkeeper before penalty that has gone viral

Real Madrid’s recent victory over Espanyol brought several key moments, but none stood out more than the penalty incident involving Endrick. In the closing stages of the game, Endrick was brought down, leading to a penalty that Kylian Mbappe stepped up to take.

This moment was significant, as Mbappe converted the spot kick, scoring his fourth goal of the season. Interestingly, three of these four goals have come from penalties, showcasing the Frenchman’s clinical ability from the spot.

The incident that followed the foul on Endrick has gained attention, with footage from DAZN being shared. This footage highlights what took place after Espanyol’s Carlos Romero committed the foul on Endrick in the 90th minute.

At this point, Real Madrid had already secured a comfortable lead, with the score standing at 3-1 in their favour. The match was all but decided, and the penalty was seen as an opportunity for Mbappe to further increase Real Madrid’s advantage.

What happened with Mbappe and Garcia?

Before Mbappe took the penalty, Espanyol’s goalkeeper, Joan Garcia, approached him. As often happens in such situations, the goalkeeper appeared to try and put pressure on the penalty taker by engaging him in conversation.

However, Mbappe, known for his calm under pressure, handled the situation in his own unique way. Lucas Vazquez, who was nearby to support his teammate, found Mbappe’s response amusing.

Rather than allowing himself to be rattled by the goalkeeper’s comments, Mbappe responded in Spanish, saying: “I don’t understand a word of what you’re saying to me.”

His composed reaction, combined with a bit of humour, seemed to diffuse any tension. Vazquez, witnessing the exchange, couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. Mbappe’s ability to stay relaxed under pressure was evident once again.

After brushing off the attempted mind games, Mbappe confidently slotted the ball into the net, sealing Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Espanyol.
