Vikings LB Ivan Pace Jr. takes shot at Giants ahead of Week 1 matchup: ‘We’re about to go crazy’

Date:

The Giants will certainly already be fired up when they hit the MetLife Stadium turf for their regular season opener Sunday against the Vikings, but in case they needed some bulletin board material, here it is.

When asked how good of a matchup Big Blue’s offense is for the Minnesota defense, second-year linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. was extremely confident about his team’s chances.

“We boutta go crazy man, it ain’t even gonna be no matchup,” he told KTSP-TV in Minnesota. “We all about to go crazy on them man, it’s going to be cool.”

The Giants’ offense has struggled to produce in recent years, but they spent the majority of the offseason focusing on revamping their offensive line, and the group showed tremendous improvements in camp and preseason.

And while Big Blue lost Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley to the Eagles, they did add some talent in the form of veteran Devin Singletary and big-bodied star LSU receiver Malik Nabers on the outside.

Daniel Jones is also coming back healthy after suffering a torn ACL last season, and the last time he faced this Vikings defense he torched them for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns en route to a Wild Card round victory.

Pace Jr. talked back his comments a bit when reminded of the playmakers on Big Blue’s much-improved offense, but he remained confident in their group to get the job done.

“Yeah they look good, they definitely have looked good out there,” he said. “But I know our defense, I know we got it in this locker room here, so I think we’re going to be good.”

We’ll see how things shape out come Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoff.
