Viktor Hovland’s status for The Sentry still uncertain following toe fracture

Date:

Viktor Hovland’s status for this week’s PGA Tour season opener at Kapalua is uncertain because of a fractured toe.

Hovland sustained the injury to his right pinky toe last week, with Eurosport reporting that Hovland had an “unpleasant encounter with the edge of a bed while training.” Hovland had tweeted Friday an x-ray image showing the fractured toe along with the captain, “Bed frame 1-0 me.”

Typically, Hovland’s type of injury takes four to six weeks to heal, though the world No. 8 told Eurosport that he’s yet to withdraw from The Sentry, which begins Thursday.

“He hopes that taping and painkillers will be enough for him to get through the week without major problems,” the outlet reported.
