Vote: Golf, football standouts among Athlete of the Week nominees

Date:

It is time once again for the Tribune’s Athlete of the Week.

Congratulations to last week’s winners of the vote, Jack Pinski of C.M. Russell High golf and Ella Woldtvedt of Great Falls High cross country.

Each week during competition, two girls and two boys will be nominated, with the audience choosing the winner via poll, which are both posted below.

Athletic directors, coaches, parents, and fans are encouraged to send in Athlete of the Week nominations for competitors in all sports in northcentral Montana. Nominations can be sent to sports reporter Grady Higgins at ghiggins@greatfallstribune.com.

Voting on this week’s poll will be open until Friday at 11:59 p.m., and the winners of the vote will be announced in the following week’s Athlete of the Week story.

Here are this week’s nominees for the boys:

Eric Bell, Great Falls High golf: The senior shot a 163 to tie for 18th overall at the Eastern AA divisional tournament and qualify for this week’s state meet.

Keegan Fuller, CMR football: The senior rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns as the Rustlers downed Belgrade.

And the girls:

Danica Lewis, CMR golf: Lewis shot a 178 to finish 18th at the divisional tourney and advance to the state meet.

Callie Criss, Great Falls High golf: Criss fired three strokes higher on the second day of competition at divisionals to take 29th and qualify for the state tournament.
