W.F. West close regular season with convincing win over Black Hills

Oct. 10—Every player in the Bearcats lineup was a senior on senior night and they showed out with a 6-0 victory over the Wolves on Wednesday afternoon.

Jonah Ames won a 4-6, 7-5, 10-3 verdict for W.F. West at No. 3 singles over Cailen Greiff. It was the lone match that went into three sets. Javyn Han at No. 1 singles plus the top doubles team of Bryce Kuykendall and Will Cummings pulled out 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.

Jaxon Velazquez and Colin Bradley secured a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles. Andre Tseng and Sawyer Cothern plus Braden Newman — the No. 2 doubles duo and No. 2 singles player — combined to lose just five games.

“It is a great group, full of strong tennis players,” Bearcats head coach Megan Wellander said. “Grateful for all of those boys.”
