W.F. West falls to Tumwater on the road

Date:

Sep. 25—The W.F. West boys tennis team couldn’t get much going in Tumwater on Tuesday, as the Bearcats fell to the Thunderbirds 5-1.

“Tough match,” W.F. West coach Megan Wellander said. “A lot of good battles … Tumwater is always a strong opponent and I was proud of the way the singles responded to that.”

The T-Birds swept the three singles matches and took the second and third doubles matches. Javyn Han and Bryce Kuykendall grabbed the Bearcats’ lone win of the day, taking down Cody Lambert and Kaleb Peterson 6-4, 6-3.

“I look forward to the next time we play Tumwater,” Wellander said. “With a different lineup and some minor changes, I hope for the match to go in a different direction.”

First singles: Bodie Jackson (TUM) over Will Cummings (WFW) 6-2, 6-3

Second singles: Kieran Cox (TUM) over Braden Newman (WFW) 6-1, 6-2

Third singles: Will Bond (TUM) over Sawyer Cothern (WFW) 6-0, 7-5

First doubles: Javyn Han/Bryce Kuykendall (WFW) over Cody Lambert/Kaleb Peterson (TUM) 6-4, 6-3
