MARIETTA — Two men from Akron were indicted on drug charges Monday by the Washington County Grand Jury.
Zaire Cortez Edwards, 18, 1771 Gaylord Drive, Akron, and Stephan Paul Combs, 39, 1604 Paul St., Akron, were charged in a joint indictment and were among the 21 defendants indicted by the grand jury.
Combs was charged with trafficking in a fentanyl related compound and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both third-degree felonies.
Edwards was accused of: trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound with specifications for the forfeiture of money and cell phone in a drug case, a second-degree felony; aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony; possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a second-degree felony; trafficking in a fentanyl related compound, a third-degree felony; and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony.
The offenses occurred on Oct. 20 at Eighth and Main streets in Belpre, the grand jury said.
Other indictments were returned against:
* Shawn Eugene Covey, 57, 3115 State Route 26, Marietta: vandalism, fifth-degree felony.
* Khary Damar Rogers, 31, last known address 2568 Briar Lane, Toledo: escape, third-degree felony.
* Lee Anna Charlton, 41, 1588 Federal Road, Little Hocking: grand theft of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree felony.
* Morgan Kay Fuller, 26, 4984 Prairie Lane, Orient, Ohio: illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility, third-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, fifth-degree felony; and identity fraud, fifth-degree felony.
* Joshua Andrew Armstrong, 35, Belpre: strangulation, third-degree felony; strangulation, fourth-degree felony; domestic violence, first-degree misdemeanor; three counts endangering children, first-degree misdemeanor.
* Timothy Midas Palmer, 26, 224 Pioneer St., Akron: two counts trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound with a specification for the forfeiture of money in a drug case, second-degree felonies.
* Joseph Franklin Wells, 33, 34401 State Route 7, Newport: theft, fifth-degree felony; breaking and entering, fifth-degree felony; and tampering with evidence, third-degree felony.
* Shawn Eugene Covey, 27, 3115 State Route 26, Marietta: harassment with a bodily substance, fifth-degree felony.
* Alfred Henry Martin, 37, 23979 Moyis Road, Coolville: possession of a deadly weapon while under detention, fifth-degree felony.
* Carl Preston Wiggins, 29, 154 Moss Creek Road, Round O, S.C.: improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, fifth-degree felony; operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or both, first-degree misdemeanor.
* Tamara Dayle Smith, 25, 108A Glenwood Ave., Charleston, S.C.: failure to appear as required by recognizance, fourth-degree felony.
* Jason Asdam Szakal, 44, 4505 Whipple Road, Whipple: aggravated trafficking in drugs, third-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, third-degree felony; two counts having weapons while under disability with 16 specifications for the forfeiture of weapons and property, third-degree felonies.
* Jewerel Webster McGowan, 46, 1843 River St., Jackson, Miss.: trafficking in marijuana, third-degree felony; possession of marinjuana, third-degree. felony; identity fraud, fifth-degree felony.
* Matthew E. Deem, 43, 1410 1/2 Hocking Road, Belpre: aggravated possession of drugs, third-degree felony.
* Albert L. Williams, 64, 475 Lynch Church Road, Marietta: cruelty to companion animals, fifth-degree felony.
* Anthony Maurice Clark, 38, 1607 Claudia Road, Akron: trafficking in marijuana, third-degree felony; possession of marinjuana, third-degree.
* Joseph T. Hammond, 33, 505 Third St., New Haven, W.Va.: four counts tampering with records, fourth-degree felonies; and Zacariah M. Priddy, 34, 32562 Happy Hollow Road, Middleport, Ohio: four counts tampering with records, fourth-degree felonies.
* Devon James Johnson, 33, last known address 186 Mineral Park Lane, Mineral Wells: theft from a person in a protected class, fourth-degree felony.
* Austin Garrett Jones, 27, last known address 312 Sixth St., Marietta: aggravated arson, first-degree felony; aggravated arson, second-degree felony; two counts of arson, second-degree felonies.
