MARIETTA — The Washington County Board of Elections will hold the official canvass of this week’s primary election at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Washington County Emergency Operations Center, 204 Davis Ave., Marietta.
All of Ohio’s’ Boards of Elections must begin the official canvas no earlier than the fifth day after the election and no later than the 15th day after. Each board must complete its official canvass and certify the results no later than the 21st day after the election.
The meeting is open to the public.
The canvass could alter the outcome of the Republican primary for Washington County sheriff. The board will consider 92 provisional ballots, which have issues such as a voter not updating their address or name or going to their polling location without the required form of identification.
There are also 14 absentee ballots with issues with the identification envelope that voters have until Saturday to correct, and another 61 absentee ballots that were mailed out and can still be counted if they were postmarked by Monday and received by Saturday.
