Wataru Endo REVEALS Liverpool staff have given him a strange REQUEST recently

Wataru Endo has been speaking about an interesting request that Liverpool’s staff have given him recently.

The Japanese international has not played a lot of minutes under Arne Slot so far this season. Endo has spent the majority of his time in pre-season and during the regular campaign on the bench so far.

But that could be about to change after the international break, with games coming in thick and fast for Liverpool.

In the meantime, Endo has returned to Japan for international duty and will be looking to get himself into match sharpness before he comes back to Merseyside.

Wataru Endo on strange Liverpool request

Being the captain of the Japanese national team, Endo was on media duties prior to Japan’s game against China tomorrow. Endo spoke to the Japanese media in a press conference where he revealed an interesting request that Liverpool staff have made to him.

According to Endo, the Reds’ staff have been asking him about Japanese players and getting his verdict on certain individuals about whether they are a good player or not.

“I get the impression that the evaluation of Japanese players who have transferred to England is gradually increasing. I think there is a lot of interest in Japanese players from all over the world. I am also asked by Liverpool staff about Japanese players, saying, ‘What about that guy?’ It’s not that we want to transfer him, but just that he’s a good player, that kind of thing,” Endo revealed in his press conference as per Soccer Digest.

Endo’s comments are interesting. Liverpool have been linked with a few Japanese players since he became only the second player from the country after Takumi Minamino to play for the club.

Recently, Liverpool have had Ko Itakura on the club’s radar and were also linked with a move for Takefusa Kubo.

Nothing came of either of those moves, but there was reported interest and it’s interesting to see Endo reveal he had been asked about Japanese players by the club’s staff.
