Watch Chris Paul’s emotional locker room speech to teammates after moving to No. 2 all-time in assists

Date:

New Orleans Pelicans v San Antonio Spurs

Midway through the second quarter Sunday night, Chris Paul found Victor Wembanyama at the arc for a 3-pointer that became Paul’s 12,092nd assist in his career, moving him past Hall of Famer Jason Kidd into second all-time in assists in NBA history.

After the game, the team presented Paul with a framed poster that included a list of every teammate he had an assist with to get to his historic number, and asked CP3 to give a speech — and an emotional Paul had to hold back the tears.

Powerful.

Now in the 20th season of his Hall of Fame career, Paul led the league in assists five times and averaged double-digit assists in seven seasons.
