NEW DELHI: From the flat pitches of Pakistan, to the bouncy tracks of Australia, Kamran Ghulam made the tough transition during the 1st ODI at Melbourne on Monday.
Put into bat by Australia, Pakistan were 63/3 with the dismissal of Babar Azam, when Kamran Ghulam, playing only his second ODI came to the crease.
Facing his second delivery, Ghulam hit a flighted delivery from Adam Zampa past mid-off for four to get off the mark.
But in the next over, Kamran Ghulam was up against the wily Australia captain Pat Cummins who took three balls to sort him out.
Ghulam tried to pull the first ball that he faced from Cummins but mistimed it to wide of mid-on. Ghulam defended the next ball and did a Steve Smith “wait on”, that drew a smile from Cummins as he collected the ball.
Before bowling the next ball, Cummins changed the field for the short ball and dug it really short. The rip-snorter from Cummins was aimed for Ghulam’s head, who was clearly stunned and tried to jump and fend.
But the ball was too fast for Ghulam to react much as it took off the glove and went straight to the keeper Josh Inglis who completed an easy catch.
Cricket Australia shared the video of the dismissal on their X handle:

Pakistan struggled against some precision bowling by Australia and were bundled out for 203 in 46.4 overs with Mitchell Starc taking 3/33 and Cummins returning with 2/39.
