WC women’s golf takes second in Brenham

Date:

Oct. 16—The Weatherford College women’s golf team finished second at the Buccaneer Fall Invitational held on Monday and Tuesday at Brenham Country Club.

“We struggled the first day but improved by 19 strokes on Tuesday,” said Katie Johnson, WC assistant golf coach. “We are a young group, and the way they battled every tournament this semester shows this group is special. They never give up.”

WC’s Corrina Haros finished fourth out of 36 golfers, shooting 86-75. Emily Gutierrez was seventh (87-78) and Kyla Morales tied for eighth (83-85).

Host Blinn College won the tournament, led by individual champion Pai Tassaneetipagorn (79-74). North Central Texas College finished third, followed by Jacksonville College and Collin College.

This was WC’s final tournament of the fall, with play resuming in the spring. Weatherford College will host the Southwest District Championship at Canyon West Golf Course in April.
