West Ham aren’t pleased with Julen Lopetegui’s work this season and have reportedly opened talks with Massimiliano Allegri to make him his successor, but they could be forced to wait until the end of the season before having the Italian on their bench.
The Hammers have lost seven of their first 14 Premier League games this season, which put the former Barcelona manager’s job on the line just a few months after his arrival at the London stadium.
On the lookout for a potential replacement, West Ham have therefore contacted Massimiliano Allegri, who’s currently without a club, facing his reluctance to take up the new job in the middle of the season.
Allegri asks West Ham to wait before accepting coaching role
As reported by Talk Sport, the former Juventus boss told the Premier League outfit he would be open to becoming their new coach at the end of the current season.
Therefore, the Hammers could consider hiring a caretaker manager for the remaining months of this campaign before handing Allegri a permanent coaching role next summer.
The 57-year-old has been without a job since leaving Juventus at the end of last season and was rumoured to be among Manchester United’s options when Erik ten Hag was on the verge of being sacked, only to see the Red Devils hire Rubem Amorim a few weeks later.
