What Tom Izzo said about 2025-26 Michigan State basketball signees Jordan Scott, Cam Ward

Tom Izzo’s two-man 2025 Michigan State basketball recruiting class is signed and sealed.

It remains to be seen if there will be more deliveries ahead and where they will come from.

Metro-DC forwards Jordan Scott and Cam Ward both filed their letters of intent Wednesday to become Spartans as the early signing period opened. Both are four-star prospects rated in the top-100 of 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.

Barring offseason transfer attrition, MSU will have three more openings for next season, with the NCAA increasing roster limits to 15 players in 2025-26. As he did this offseason, Izzo could look to bring in experienced transfers through the portal or explore further high school additions.

The early signing period for hoops runs through next Wednesday, with the regular period going from April 16-May 21, 2025.

The Spartans will lose seniors Jaden Akins and one-year transfers Frankie Fidler and Szymon Zapala after their collegiate eligibility expires at the end of this season.

Here is what Izzo had to say about his two signees.

Jordan Scott, wing

Height/weight: 6-7, 190.

Hometown: Reston, Virginia (South Lakes High).

National ranking: No. 61.

Izzo: “Jordan comes from a great pedigree. Not only the school where Grant Hill came from, but also both of his parents, Christy, who played at Maryland, and Jerome, who played at Miami (Florida). Jordan was the player of the year in the Virginia area. He’s a 6-6, 6-7 shooting wingman with size and he shoots the ball very well. We are excited to have Jordan as part of our program and being a good student, a great kid, and a guy that wanted to be here. That was very important to us.”

Cam Ward, wing

Height/weight: 6-8, 225.

Hometown: Upper Marlboro, Maryland (Largo High).

National ranking: No. 89.

Izzo: “We are very excited about Cam. He’s been a winner his whole life. He’s won a state championship already, he’s won games in AAU ball and big-time tournaments. He averaged 26 points per game last year. He’s 6-8 with a 6-11 wingspan. And maybe what’s more important than anything is he’s tough and that is what really excited me when I first saw him. The second part of it is, he plays for his father, and his mother is the AD and head coach of the women’s team at Largo. Basketball has been in his life since he was a little kid. Put that with the fact that he’s a very good student, and I think he’s gonna be an incredible representative here for Michigan State University.”
